Small dog grooming in Dubai: what owners tell us matters most

Most of Dubai lives in apartments, and most apartment dogs are small. Shih Tzus, Pomeranians, Maltese, Yorkshire Terriers, Chihuahuas, French Bulldogs and small poodle crosses make up a large share of everything we groom.
Over the years, the same four things come up again and again from their owners.
1. “I did not want him sitting in a cage”
This is the one we hear most. Small dogs are often more anxious in busy environments, not less, and a small dog in a cage between two large barking dogs has a genuinely unpleasant few hours.
In the van there is one dog at a time. Your dog is not waiting, and it is not near anything else.
2. “The drive was worse than the groom”
A 25-minute drive across Dubai in August, twice, for a 45-minute groom. Several owners have told us their dog started refusing to get in the car at all.
Mobile grooming reduces the journey to a walk from your front door to the van.
3. “Nobody would tell me the price”
Small dog owners in particular tend to shop around, because they know their dog should be at the cheaper end of the range. Then they find that most groomers will not publish a price at all.
Our price list is published in full. A basic groom starts at AED 170 and a full groom starts at AED 245. There is no call-out fee.
4. “I did not know how often he needed it”
This is the one where owners are most often given bad information.
What small breeds actually need:

The four-week figure for curly coats surprises people, but it is the honest answer. Leave a Cavapoo eight or ten weeks and the groom stops being a haircut and becomes a shave, because the mats have reached the skin and combing them out would hurt.
What we hear afterwards
The comments that come back most often are about handling rather than results: that the groomer was patient with a nervous dog, that nothing was rushed, and that somebody explained what they found on the skin, in the ears and on the nails rather than just handing the dog back.
