Why a lion cut is usually about kindness, not looks

Long-haired cats in Dubai fight two battles at once. The coat mats, because mats form underneath the top layer where brushing does not reach. And the coat overheats, because it was designed for climates this city does not have.

By the time a mat can be felt from outside, it is pulling on the skin, and that hurts. Combing a severe mat out means dragging a comb through sore skin. Clipping it away takes minutes and takes the pain with it. That is why groomers call the lion cut the humane option, and why we will recommend it honestly when it is, and talk you out of it when it is not.

How we do it differently

The van parks outside your home, so there is no carrier battle and no car stress, which for most cats is the worst part of any groom. Inside, it is one cat, one groomer, and a quiet room. We clip with the coat and never against the skin. We do not sedate, ever, and if your cat has had enough, we pause or finish on another visit rather than force the job.

What it costs, with nothing hidden

The lion cut is part of our Cat Full Groom at AED 270, VAT included: the clip, the wash and dry, nails, ears, and the sanitary trim. There is no call-out fee anywhere in Dubai. Severe matting can add to the price, and if it does we tell you on WhatsApp before you book, never after the groom.

Lion cut questions

What exactly is a lion cut?

The body coat is clipped short while the head, the lower legs and the tip of the tail keep their fur, which is what gives the lion look. It is a practical cut, not a fashion one: it removes matting and heavy coat in one gentle session.

How much does a cat lion cut cost in Dubai?

With us the lion cut is part of the Cat Full Groom at AED 270, VAT included, done at your home with no call-out fee. Severe matting can add to the price, and we always confirm the exact amount on WhatsApp before booking, never after.

Does a lion cut hurt or stress the cat?

Done properly, no. We clip with the coat, not against the skin, we never sedate, and we work one cat at a time in a quiet van. If your cat needs a break, we stop. A gentle clip is far kinder than dragging a comb through mats that are pulling on the skin.

When is a lion cut the right choice?

Two situations. First, a badly matted coat: mats sit close to the skin and hurt, and clipping them away is the humane fix. Second, Dubai heat: long-haired cats carry a winter coat in a summer country, and many are visibly more comfortable after the clip.

Will the coat grow back normally?

Yes. A healthy cat regrows a normal coat, usually within two to three months for short regrowth and around four to six for the full length. Regular grooming after that keeps the new coat from matting again.

Which cats suit a lion cut?

Mostly the long-haired breeds: Persians, Himalayans, Maine Coons, Ragdolls and long-haired domestic cats. Short-haired cats rarely need one. If we think your cat does not need the full clip, we will say so and suggest the lighter groom instead.
